The Australian Chamber of Fruit and Vegetable Industries
is the national body representing Australia's fresh fruit and vegetable
Market Wholesalers. Wholesalers in each of the Central Markets operating
in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth and Sydney are collectively
represented by individual Market Chambers. Each of these Market Chambers
then comprise the membership of the Australian Chamber. The operations
of the Australian Chamber are overseen by an Executive Board comprised
of seven members consisting of a President, Vice-President and five
Directors. Members of the Executive board collectively represent each
market Chamber, while the Chief Executive Officers of each Chamber also
play an important part in progressing issues being addressed by the
Australian Chamber.

the Wholesaling sector of the fruit and vegetable industry, through excellence
in representation and service, the facilitation of networking between representatives
from Member Chambers and Market Wholesalers from around Australia and through
a commitment to the Central Market System and the fruit and vegetable industry.

Why Did We Establish This Website?
Back in 1999 the members of the Australian Chamber of Fruit and Vegetable
Industries recognised the need to establish a means of providing a cost effective
e-commerce solution for the market wholesalers, their suppliers and clients.
Since then we have been working to establish the framework and the finer operating
features of an interactive website that best emulates the central marketing
system currently operating throughout Australia. The result is www.freshmarkets.com.au
the only website that links the central market wholesalers around Australia
with their suppliers and clients. During the establishment phase there has
been an extensive consultation process to ensure that features requested by
all industry participants have been taken into consideration.
Who Is Listed On This Website?
INDUSTRY SERVICES
Industry Service Suppliers are advertisers who supply product or services
to the horticultural industry. They may include the suppliers of office stationery,
farm chemicals, fertilizers, packaging, fork trucks or tractors. There is
an advertising charge to be listed as an Industry Services Supplier. Industry Service Suppliers may also establish web pages on the site.

WHOLESALERS
Only Wholesalers who are members of their respective
Market/State Chambers can be listed on the site. These wholesalers include many
who act as providores, exporters and secondary wholesalers.
Wholesalers who are members of the Chamber must abide by a set of rules or Code
of Conduct in dealings with their suppliers and clients. These rules vary from
state to state but give an assurance that the member has a commitment to the
continual improvement and advancement of Australia’s horticultural industry.
The wholesaler listing includes business name, contact person, address, email
address, phone and fax. Also included in the listing are the major products
handled by the wholesaler.
Besides being listed, the wholesalers may establish their own web pages on
the site providing further details on their businesses.
