Fresh Markets Australia (FMA) today announced the appointment of Brett Collins as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), commenced on 10 November 2025. Mr Collins will be based at FMA’s office at the Melbourne Market, Epping (VIC), reflecting the FMA’s close connection to central markets.
FMA Chair Shane Schnitzler said the appointment comes at an important time for Australia’s fresh produce central markets.
“Brett is a values-driven leader with a practical understanding of how wholesalers operate day-to-day and what the industry needs to thrive. His experience in stakeholder engagement and program delivery will help FMA strengthen services to members and partners across the country—delivering outcomes that matter for the central markets supply chain and the broader industry.”
Mr Collins joins FMA with broad experience in the fresh produce and food sectors, including an extensive track record and a strong background in leadership, strategy and stakeholder engagement.
“I’m looking forward to working with the state chambers, traders and supply-chain partners to support a more connected, transparent and resilient market system,” Mr Collins said. “FMA has strong foundations through initiatives like FreshData, FreshTest®, and the joint marketing initiative A Better Choice! My focus will be practical listening, collaborating and delivering outcomes across central markets and the wider industry.”
