The Australian Chamber of Fruit & Vegetable Industries Limited
FreshSpecs® which identify the general appearance criteria; major defects; minor defects; and consignment criteria, was introduced by Fresh Markets Australia (FMA) in 2006 in response to the need for produce specifications to support wholesalers when the original Hort Code was introduced. The Government has codified FreshSpecs® as the default produce specification in the new Code.
FMA supports the use of uniform product standards for fresh produce and recommends that wholesalers support FreshSpecs® as the industry standard for class one (or equivalent) produce.
